Preparing for a Session

After the consultation, you will have studio time booked. Before arriving at the session, know the tempo of the song you wish to record and have the rhythm instruments rehearsed to a metronome to make best use of your time in the studio. After the guide-guitars/vocals are recorded to the metronome, the actual tracking of your production will commence, starting with drums.

When your project is finished you will be given a mixed MP3, a WAV to send for mastering, and the individual recorded tracks (stems).

PRE SESSION TIPS:

Singers: drink lots of water and slowly warm your voice, 8 hours before your vocal session. Guitarists: Make sure your guitar is set up with proper intonation, and new strings, batteries etc.

Drummers: Bring your own cymbals and snare drums for more options to work with. Band: Bring your own beverages and meals. Energy/vibe is key in the workspace so keep all your comments positive! say ‘try this’ instead of ‘don’t do that’ etc. Let the producer say his thing to whoever is recording his/her part before you pipe in.

Outdoor smoking and indoor alcohol are permitted if kept reasonable and if it doesn’t affect the session flow. Most importantly, have an open mind to new ideas and changes, keep a learning-mentality, and HAVE FUN!!!
